About the Inn

Built atop the highest point in Bloomington, this historic home has a rich history. She was erected in 1845 and her cellar was part of the underground railroad. After nearly 100 years of serving as a single family home, the property became used for various commercial ventures starting in the 1970’s. In 1998, the Scholars Inn Gourmet Cafe and Wine Bar took residence here and remained until the Summer of 2019.

Lovingly renovated with respect to the rich history of the property, the Inn has been once again returned to her intended use and full glory as a home.

In 2020, the Scholars Inn Keep opened as a unique rental experience. Designed, owned, and operated by Bloomington locals and Indiana University alums, every inch of the property is meant to highlight the town’s best.
